Reddit user shufflingmulligan reports that, since most television satellites orbit around the equator, you can tell which direction is north or south by the direction that TV satellites are pointed.

It seems that not every satellite dish in every country follows this standard but in general it should be accurate enough to gather your bearings for basic urban navigation and you can always check which direction satellites should be pointed in your area if necessary. Keep in mind that any single satellite may be out of alignment so look for two or more pointed in the same direction. Photo by Paul Lucas
