Assignment Now!: Your Arts & Entertainment Calendar

Words by Stan Washington

I haven't posted one of these in awhile, but it is back. There is a lot going on in the metro Atlanta when it comes to the arts and entertainment in general. This is just a sample of what's going on. Hopefully, this will help you plan your time away from work. If you know of any activity that you want to share feel free to let me know.

FRIDAY

Jazz is in the air during the month of May as the 13 days of Jazz continues in Atlanta leading up to the Memorial Day weekend concerts in Piedmont Park.

One of Atlanta's great jazz talents Takana Miyamoto who re-located here from New York several years ago will perform with her trio at Jazz @ The High this evening at the High Museum of Art. Admission is free for members and admission to the museum is included in the price. Time is 5 to 10 p.m.

The Wrens Nest in West End Atlanta is having their second weekend of outdoor jazz with Lonnie Liston Smith and Ronnie Laws. It's a tribute to Roy Ayers. Information on this concert is hard to find. Nothing about it on their website.
