Anyway, I've known of a few situations. We were fictive kin 15 years ago and they didn't worry so much about beds and how many kids (but it was only 6 total in a 3 bedroom house, even distribution of gender, and they were all tiny - a five yo and the rest 2 and under). But my three's aunt didn't get them as they had moved to a smaller home inbetween the two cases. They also would have had an even distribution with six kids (though a much wider age range). She could have fought, but it worked out best as her hubby's health went downhill FAST right after TPR. She had decided to leave them with us where they were happy and healthy and loved; so it worked out for all of us (and they can remain in their lives as we keep things open as "safe and healthy").
Sorry to ramble. I think it is possible you can get them. I just think the house situation MIGHT be an issue unless you can frame it right ("we already have the bedroom situation worked out....blah blah blah"). I'd also mention other positives (family, sports, the great schools, how any special needs can be addressed, etc).
Oh, and I would push. HARD. And if it is out-of-state, see what the requirements would be to get done what you can now. Send stuff in writing. Emails include supervisor and maybe PD also. Ask if it would be best for you to get a lawyer to get this worked out
I so wish Monkey's family would have pushed (and the caseworker hadn't made a big mistake). Then we wouldn't be in the current situation.
