TRI-CITIES, Wash. -- A 9-year-old girl donated a portion of her winnings from a writing contest to the Tri-Cities Cancer Center.
Danica Lerch gave the check Monday to the center's director Elizabeth McLaughlin, according to a news release. Lerch said her donation was to help support the Kids Konnection, a program that both she and her sister participated in.
Kids Konnection is an education-based support program for children who have an adult in their lives who has been diagnosed with cancer.
Lerch said she wanted to donate the money to help support the services offered at the center.
Community support funds programs like Kids Konnection. It uses donations to stay local and provide cancer services and programs for patients and their families.
