Detectives Michael Keenan and Kenneth Ayala and Officer Matthew Granahan were all shot in the leg, and Captain Al Pizzano was grazed in the face early Sunday morning in Brooklyn.
Detective Ayala was released today from Lutheran Medical Center where he was applauded by fellow members of the force.
As he was being helped into a van he said he felt good and was looking forward to saying hello to his family.
Captain Pizzano and Officer Granahan were sent home yesterday.
Detective Keenan remains hospitalized in stable condition.
The four were responding to a hostage situation in Sheepshead bay when they were shot.
Police say Nakwon Foxworth was holding his pregnant girlfriend and their 4-month-old son hostage inside their apartment.
The woman and child managed to escape.
Foxworth was shot in the abdomen in the exchange of gunfire and remains hospitalized in critical condition.
He faces charges of attempted murder, assault on a police officer, criminal possession of a weapon and menacing.
He has already served 12 years in prison for attempted murder and other charges.
Police discovered a number of weapons at the scene including and the 9-millimeter Foxworth was using, that was part of a multiple-gun purchase in Wilmington, North Carolina.
As a result, Mayor Michael Bloomberg is renewing his call for tougher gun control laws.
In an editorial in Monday's Daily News, Bloomberg ripped into Washington lawmakers, who he says are scared silent by the gun lobby.
He called the inaction a shameful betrayal of the public trust, and asked the public to urge Washington to act.
